security SSL and padlockShopping in the comfort of our own home is the way to shop now a days.  There are two things you need to watch out if you are shopping online.  The two image to your left is taken from your browsers.  The “https” and the “padlock”, this two images are there for one sole purpose, safe online shopping. The “S” on the “HTTPS” means secured, [Hyper-Text Transfer Protocal over Secure Socket Layer].

When your about to enter [type] important information like your credit card number or any information about you, make sure that you see this “HTTPS” and the “padlock” image on your browser. Click the “padlock” to see if the Secure Socket Layer[SSL] certificate actually belongs to the Business your shopping with.

Lets put this to a test, visit http://www.paypal.com as you notice once the website completely loads up it switch to https://www.paypal.com.  At this time you will be able to see the “padlock”, click on it so you would see how a Secure Socket Layer[SSL] certificate would look like.
